Pot-Making Weekend

In October 2008 we booked our first bonsai pot-making workshop with David Jones of Walsall Ceramics.

David brought all the clay and equipment to our meeting place and spent two days working with various members of the club, helping us make our own bonsai pots.

For our first workshop, he took us through the process of building a cascade pot, step-by-step, so that we could learn the techniques. Once the basic techniques are mastered, it is possible to create all sorts of shapes and sizes of pot, they just get trickier.

After making a cascade pot in the first workshop, we moved on to larger rectangles. David is a brilliantly patient teacher and helped us all out with our different design ideas and alterations.
