Shrewsbury Flower Show, 2011
Members of the club travelled down to Shrewsbury on the Thursday just before the show, laden with trees, stands and all sorts of accessories, to set up the Society's show stand. They also took extra trees to enter into the individual classes. At Shrewsbury Flower Show, as well as a specialist plant society category, there are bonsai classes: broadleaf, conifer, cascade, mame, group, and a collection.
We entered the same bonsai stand design that we had had great success with at Tatton Show. Unfortunately, we did not score a place for our Society stand again this year, but won a number of prizes between us in the individual classes: 3 first, 6 second, and 2 third places. In addition to this, Simon won back the "Jean Ruff" trophy for his collection of bonsai; a trophy that he has won a number of times in the past.
As always we enjoyed looking round the show over the two days; and the weather was really good too!
